165. How To Not Lose Yourself When You’ve Lost Everything [with Carey Conley]

In this episode, guest Carey Conley shares how she lost both her husband and son to suicide three years apart- and somehow found the strength to keep going.

What happens when you lose not just the people you love, but the version of yourself that existed alongside them?

Well, in today’s Friday’s with Friends episode, our guest Carey Conley takes us into a deeply personal conversation about grief, loss, identity, purpose and what it means to keep moving forward when life completely changes.

Carey has experienced unimaginable loss in her lifetime- losing both her husband and 25-year-old son to suicide, three years apart. She shares with us the different ways that grief can show up, why there is no “right” way to grieve, and the identity shifts that happen when you lose someone who has been a part of your life for decades.

Together we explore how to find joy again without feeling guilty about it, the importance of having a vision for your life, and how it can actually give you something to move toward- even when life feels incredibly heavy.

This conversation is raw, vulnerable and filled with some seriously potent reminders about how little time we actually have here, why we need to stop waiting for the “right” time, and how sometimes the thing that keeps us going is simply having something meaningful enough to keep moving toward.

Tomorrow isn’t promised. So what are you going to do with today?

Lets dive in!
